TIPS-TRAINING FOR INTERVENTION PROCEDURES​​

TIPS is a skills-based training program designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking and drunk driving. TIPS provides your employees with the knowledge and confidence they need to recognize potential alcohol related problems and how to effectively intervene to prevent alcohol tragedies. When you serve or sell alcohol at a bar, restaurant, hotel, ballpark concession or university, you risk lawsuits if you over serve, risk lives if you serve a drunk driver and risk your livelihood if you sell to a minor.


All participants are guaranteed to leave TIPS training prepared to:

  • Spot underage drinkers and prevent sales to minors

  • Recognize signs of intoxication

  • Intervene quickly and assuredly in potential problem situations

  • Understand the difference between people enjoying themselves and those getting into trouble with alcohol

  • Handle alcohol-related situations with greater confidence

  • Use proven strategies to prevent alcohol-related problems

TIPS is appropriate for anyone who sells, serves or consumes alcohol.

Programs are tailored for the following environments:

  • Off Premise - Grocery stores, liquor stores, convenience stores, and package stores.

  • On Premise- Restaurants, bars, hotels, and any other establishment where alcohol is sold and consumed on the premise.

  • Concessions - Stadiums, arenas, theaters, concert halls, fairs, amusement parks and festivals.

  • Gaming - Casinos, riverboats, and gambling halls.

  • Universities - Colleges and university campuses, dining halls, campus clubs, Greek organizations and high schools.

  • Seniors - Retirement homes, social clubs for the elderly and dance halls.         


TIPS Training and Certificate Class:

  • On-site classes provided, minimum to train 10 or more per class (depending on distance an on-site fee may be assessed). 

  • Class is 3-4 hours

  • eTIPS training available on line

  • Exam is 40 questions

  • TIPS passing score requirement  is 70% or higher

  • Certificate is good for 3 years

  • Saru International highly recommends students to pass with a 90% or higher Certificates are mailed within 14 business days.

  • A rush delivery fee is charged for companies or students needing certificates within 2-5 business days.​​
